Those Winged Critters

Looking around my house it appears I like things with wings for summertime decorating.

I just love this little tray I currently have propped up on an easel.

But do you know what this winged critter is???  Read on…..

You see ~~  by mid summer, my husband brings in one basket after another of his garden produce….Oh yes, I’m right there with him getting excited over fresh veggies for supper every night.  BUT, with the good comes the bad.

Did you figure it out??

It’s a fruit fly silly!!!  :) :) :)

This one may be cute but I detest those pesky real ones.  In a few more weeks they will really make their presence known.  Right now I’ve only seen a few.

I’ll be ready for them.  You see a couple of years ago I found the best and easiest way to get rid of those little suckers, the ones that aren’t as cute as the one I have under glass.

Here’s my recipe for eliminating fruit flies:

Fruit Fly Potion

2 cups warm water

2 T. sugar

2 T. white vinegar

couple drops of liquid dish soap

Combine and place in several narrow necked jars.  It takes a couple of days, but it really does take care of these little pests.

Come back to visit me because I have an excellent homemade mosquito repellent recipe I will share with you.

Thanks for the visit!  Enjoy this day God has given us!

Oh - I'm getting ready to open an Etsy store and when I do I'll let you know - I have the cutest little thing for you to look at!! I'm still in the planning stages and haven't gotten everything ready yet - actually - you're the first person outside of my family I've told! Yikes - it's real!!

OK - I hate with a passion fruit flies and will have to make a note of that "recipe"!!

Happy Hump Day -

This is so cute! I love the framed bee, the tray AND the fruit fly!! I have a bee thing anyway!

And thank you SO MUCH for the fruit fly potion. I was literally overrun with them last year! I think my son threw a banana peel in the garbage or something and they multiplied like rabbits!!!

They were everywhere ~ just swarms! I would stand there with a fly swatter every night trying to kill those little hummers! Took FOREVER to get rid of them!! I called my exterminator and he said there was nothing you could do...I'm gonna give him this "potion" and tell him there is!

Thanks!!

Hi Donna...good to see you! I haven't been blogging a lot so you haven't really missed much. ;o)

Thank you SOOOOO much for the fruitfly potion. My home has already been invaded & I was about to resort to a flying insect spray. I'm going to go mix some up right now!

The tray is so cute so is the dog picture down below! I don't really have a problem with fruit flys but I'll keep that potion just in case!

I love your bugs! I have a special fondness for bees myself -- my "cardmaking name" used to be The Busy Bee -- but when I became a grandmother it became "Bee Nana" -- wish all of them could be a cute as your fruit fly! Thanks for your visit.

Your "cute" fruitfly is so clever! I also have the real problem, and will try your solution this year. Thanks.
