A couple of Mondays back I joined in with Susan at Between Naps on the Porch to show how I am finishing off our lower level family room. Today I’m participating in Met Monday again to show you more of this level.
There is still much work to be done, but it is definitely coming along downstairs at this stage.
Here a full shot of the window I recently had draperies made for:
Another angle showing the shelves…..
A close up of the window..
For this picture below, I stood in front of the red chairs and faced at a different angle. It’s hard to photograph this room as it’s very open and goes in different directions. Beyond the chairs and lamps that you see here is a guest room and my silk floral work room.
Here I am standing behind the red recliners… Don’t mind the old pine bench. I tried to part with it, but couldn’t. Someone special made that for us back in the 80’s. Don’t you think a coat of black paint and a pretty seat cushion will help? It’s nice to have extra seating sometimes too.
Here is a picture of “Hazel” ~~ the picture….
From this angle you can see the opposite end where our rec room is. I have more plans for this open area. To the left you can see a portion of our bar which I have shown close ups of before here.
Okay, back to the start. See this little green chair with a throw over it??? for good reason ;)
I would love to find a houndstooth fabric such as this to have it covered in. Let me know if you have a fabric source for this!
Thanks so much Susan for allowing us to share our before and after projects. I just don’t have many before pictures because this was new construction.
I appreciate all of you who have visited today. It is truly so much fun getting to know so many new bloggers. Thank you most sincerely for stopping by!
Oh, Donna, I LOVE how this room feels. It is so good looking but comfortable, too! Great job. I wanna come sit in it with you and look at every little nook and cranny!! :)
Beautiful room, Donna!
I love the whole room... very comfy. The drapes are great... you should have them made for the patio doors too. Would really tie the two together.
What a great room. I love all the pics. YOur drapes and furniture are gorgeous. You've accessorized it beautifully. Great job. I love to look at Fabrics.com. They usually have what I'm hunting for. You might give it a try. Hugs, Marty
It's lovely, Donna! I think a black bench is the way to go. :) Do you mind sharing with a new sewer how you did the (fabulous!!!!) drapes? Are they just big rectangles sewed on the seams? Did you use those clips to hang them, or did you sew anything special up there? ;)
The room looks just lovely! You have done a great job. Hope you have a wonderful week.
Well, I think the red leather chairs must go. Yes definitely they must go. Don't worry I will take them for you and give them a good home. No, no I don't mind. I am just thoughtful like that. Yes the leather chairs really must go.
BTW a black bench with a great cushion would look fabulous. Besides you will need something soft to sit on after you have sent me the leather chairs.
OOOOH I have a fabric source for you and would you beleive I have picked out the same fabric for my bench in my bedroom!!!! It's a brown houndstooth and chenille too...It looks nice!!! Let me know if you still need the info and I will email it to you...you can email me at Nancyrosalina@aol.com
Oooooooo I love your Ralph Loren/Chaps look - so rich and elegant ! The curtains are divine and I love all that red ! I would paint that bench today! Black or a red to match your chairs...use fabric like the curtains to make cushions...just my 2 cents , LOL !
Hugs ~ Kammy
Very luxurious looking. I just love seeing these pictures!
GM Donna...what a wonderful room you have made there...just love it all...have not a clue about fabric girl..May you have a great day my friend...hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
It's a GORGEOUS room Donna!
Love the patterned drapes and your red chairs. You have fabulous taste and a great eye for putting things together for a finished and elegant look.~ Wonderful job!
I wish I could sew! I am just so not a crafty person in anyway. I found that little curtain valance at Ross and my poor hubby had to climb up there to hang it. Oh his legs were shaking something terrible that day. Shhh...don't tell him I told you. HEHE!
Have a blessed day my friend.
My friend, I just read the note that you left for me on my Christmas dishes...I was so happy to have you come by!!! Yes, it has been too long since we've visited!
Girl, I can see that you are still keeping very busy! Ohhhh...this family room/rec room is absolutely gorgeous!!! The entire room just has that wonderful cozy feel of Ralph Lauren...Hunt decor!!! You've done a beautiful job designing and decorating this space, my friend! Your furniture is beautiful and soooo inviting...love all that pretty leather!!! Love your drapes and the shelving that you added to the wall beside that window...fabulous!!! Wow...I just can't get over how much space that you have downstairs...it's glorious!!! I checked back with your bar area...remember when you first posted it...it's sooo nice! Okay...I could just move into your basement and be soooo very happy! You have everything done here that I would need and the decor suits me perfectly!! Hehe! I think that the houndstooth for your green chair would be perfect! Hope that you're able to find the fabric that you want! Ohhh...and I love your little pine bench...I think it's perfect on that wall! It would be pretty painted black with some nice cushions! Ohhh my...another project, another day...right? hehe!
Well my friend...I was just elated to see you today! I'm going to go down through your posts and get caught up! Have a wonderful Wednesday!
Just me again! hehe! Just had to leave another little note for you after going down through all of your posts that I have missed! My friend, it looks like you've been having a wonderful summer! I loved all of your photos of your little mini vacation with friends and family! Thus the reason for leaving this note...I just adore the photos of you and your daughter Emily! The one of the two of you sitting on the bench in the garden of that beatufiul B&B and the second photo of the two of you standing in front of that charming yellow bicycle!!! My friend, you are such a beautiful woman and your daughter looks just like you!!! Such pretty ladies!!!
Your room looks really nice! Those drapes look very good. I sewn so many things, but never drapes.
Isn't it amazing what a difference draperies make in a room. Yours look so pretty. What a wonderful room to just relax in. laurie
I love the warm, inviting feeling of this room. What a great accomplishment.
Come for a visit and stay awhile-I have a give away going on all month.
