Up Close and Personal

I just had to share with you this photo I captured a couple of days ago.  My neighbor and I were out talking in her back yard about birds, of course.  She was mentioning how no hummingbirds were coming to this glass feeder.

About 3 minutes after she said that, here was a visitor!

I have never been this close to a hummingbird.  This is the female.  The male came just a few minutes later, in full blown color.

We could actually hear them before we could see them, with their fast beating wings.  It was truly amazing to be so close.

As far as our bluebirds, my neighbor now has five little babies that hatched a week ago.

This is the mother sitting on top of the house.  Sorry it’s blurry.  I forgot to switch my camera over to distance setting.

As far as my blue bird house ~~~~~  I have a family of wrens setting up residency.  :(  I’m a little sad it isn’t blue birds, but wrens do have a beautiful song.

I’m going out right now to start planting my flowers.  It’s a little breezy and chilly, but the sun’s out.  I do hope you have a fun weekend planned.

Oh, Donna...what wonderful pics! I put my humming bird feeder out and haven't seen any yet...I'm hoping, though! Wrens are cuties...they love to nest in my bluebird house, too. :-)

Such pretty pictures you have shared. I have had the hummers to buzz me when I'm wearing bright colored shirts before! I know that was thrilling for you and your neighbor. We are having rain today so I am forced to stay in and do housework!

Oh, How precious all the little birds are! My grandmother used to have a hummingbird feeder every year and they were delightful to watch!

Enjoyed your beautiful tablescape below, too! LOVE the candleholders! ~hugs, Rhonda :)

How cool Donna!
The pics are all great.

I was out watering our ferns a few weeks ago and all of a sudden I heard it. It was right there next to me taking a drink. So cute in a bright green color. I can't believe it wasn't afraid of me.
Of course I had no camera at the time. :)

Hi Donna, what great pics of the hummingbirds and bluebirds! I might have told you I put out some feeders and have had several birds hanging around. They are so much fun to watch! Maybe you will get bluebirds in your house next year. Wrens are cute too though. I've seen a few around hers. Kristen

Donna, Please.. send those little hummers a couple of hours north. I haven't seen any yet. But, it's been cold and windy here. There is a chance for frost tonight. I had to cover my plants. You should see the backyard visitor we've had for the past couple of days. Maybe someday those little bluebirds will make it north as well.
Hugs, Terrie
