Good Thursday Morning! We are to have a beautiful spring day! I’m so excited to be thinking about planting flowers and gardening once again.
In the meantime, we have tables to set, don’t we girls? Well, that leads me to a question. Each week Susan (we all know and love Susan) over at Between Naps on the Porch presents Tablescape Thursday. Thursday is my new favorite day of the week.
Oh! I got sidetracked (my middle name)~~ Here’s my question….how in the world do all you busy ladies find time to set a beautiful table complete with centerpiece and candles and SOMETIMES EVEN FOOD??? I love dishes! Can I repeat that? I LOVE DISHES! I have a ton of them. Dishes are always the first thing I look for while thrifting, garage sale searching or antiquing. Each week I tell myself I want to participate in Tablescape Thursday, but I never feel like I have time to set a gorgeous table like all of yours. Do you really set this up for a photo shoot? Or are you expecting guests? Or does your family get treated like loyalty to be seated at such a pretty tablesetting each week? I would love to know your answer.

Last night as I was looking through pictures on my computer I ran across this cropped version of an Easter tablescape I did for Easter a couple of years ago and decided maybe it could work!
These dishes belonged to my dear mother in law. They are marked for Emily (dd#2 who also wants my fil’s map from yesterday). While Emily isn’t using them, I might as well…right? When she came home for this Easter meal she loved seeing these dishes actually on a table. She would have to take them on a plane, so I feel they are “safe” with me for several more years!! *wink* *wink* ;)
The dish pattern is by Myott of England. It is called Forget Me Not. On the back of the plate it says, Fine Staffordshire ware.
The silver is my wedding silver called Silver Artistry. Tablecloth is by Lennox. Did you know Lennox makes tablecloths? The napkins are some I found in an antique store in Richmond, Va. Flowers by “The Silk Thumb”…
I hope you will enjoy my abbreviated Tablescape today. Take some time to enjoy all the others who have participated in this event. There are some gorgeous settings for all us dish lovers!
I love your tablescape...the china is awesome, as is the flatware and the beautiful linens. I very rarely just set up a tablescape for a photo shoot. I try to coordinate my tablescapes with events. We like to party at "The Roost," so, I get lots of opportunities.
Oh, my friend, I just don't set a nice table much. I suppose i need to work on that. LOVE the forget me not dishes!!!
I think you did a great job! The table looks lovely...love the china!
Donna, I love your tablescape. The china is so pretty. I only have one set of china. It belonged to my hubbys grandma. I bought it at her auction. Which was hard for me to believe. Why would anyone sell china that belonged to someone in the family? Her son sent it home to her from China in the 50's. I also have the silverware her sent her. Again, I bought it at the auction. I am glad your china is staying in the family. I am not a fancy person. I do use several sets of stoneware dishes. But, we normally eat at our bar. So, I do quickly set up tablescapes for my blog. And I mean quickly. I think it's fun to see everyones style. So, I love to participate. I actually think you can really see someone personality very quickly from how they decorate. I mean, isn't that what it's all about. Making your home into your escape from the outside world. I love nesting. But, today I am going to venture out shopping. It's still to big of risk here to plant flowers. I don't want to take any chances of my sweet little friends getting frosted. Are you planting?
Have a beautiful day!
I had recently read a book about how the dining room table is the center of the family experience and it was at the same time I discovered the words...Table Scape so it got me to thinking that when I had kids I always set a nice table but now that it was just hubby and me...it was TV trays. So because I want to be a really Godly home maker I am setting the table again. I love to visit every table scape and I try to learn how to do it better. I think I like the more simple tables instead of the lavish ones but they are all good. That was most likely way more info than you wanted....smiles!

Donna, your Easter table is so lovely. You have put your pretties together in such a lovely way. Enjoy...
Oh and to answer one of your questions. Some of my tablescapes get an actual sit down meal at them and others don't :0)
I love feminine looking china and your blue and white is just so pretty!
I have the same questions as you do about the others' tablescapes. They are so beautiful, and so is yours! I love those dishes; very pretty. You did a fantastic job!
This is beautiful; I am glad you came across it because I didn't get to see it last year.
Your dishes are fabulous and i love the tablescape. I am with you, doing one pretty table a week is very trying for me, much less everyday. But I do so love to look at all the wonderful things everyone puts together. Your is great. Hugs, Marty
Just beautiful Donna..glad your DD#2 could't take them yet ha ha!! now girl I have done TT and it takes so much time for me..of course I have dishes staste under beds, under the sofa every where you can stuff them I do..I have 5 complete sets just in my kitchen...also my great grandma china and my wedding china in DR..and at dinner time I just fix Len's dinner plate and yell at him "Get your tray" ha ha!! he eats in front of the tv..the only time my table gets used is for company..that's why he just rolls his eyes when I wanted to buy more dishes ha ha!! May you have a great day my friend...hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
That Myott china is gorgeous! Your daughter has good taste. I think when it's time for her to take it to her own home, you might want to hide it in a safer spot. Like my house.
I do set up quickie tablescapes, usually at the very last, last minute on Thursdays, but that's me -- last minute is my life! And I don't do elaborate settings; they are pretty unimaginative!
I'm happy if I remember to put knives and forks down.
Thanks for sharing! Cass
I love those dishes! So sweet and feminine.
Dishes are always the first things I look for also! I think that can probably be said about everybody that participates in TT!!! You are not alone!
It's a beautiful table! I love dishes and these are so pretty and feminine. Your silver is gorgeous too. We have that same tablecloth by the way. I think it is so pretty and delicate. Always fun to see how everyone sets the table each week.
I love those dishes that were your MIL's. Thanks for sharing your tablescape with me.
What a beautiful table. There's just something special about a lovely table. We eat with our eyes so when we sit down at a gorgeous table, it makes any day or occasion that much more of a feast! Great job.
Donna, that china is exquisite! How nice that you can enjoy it until it's your daugter's turn to have it. Most of the time, when I do a tablescape for TT, it really is just used for the photos! I know, I'm crazy. Many times, I'm setting the table at midnight and taking pictures at 1:00 a.m.! I said I was crazy! When I do have a special family event, I take pix to share for the next TT. laurie
Pretty!!!! Um....my kids eat off of those plastic divided plates and sippy cups, and the hubs and I eat off of my everyday Pfaltzgraff white plates...no muss, no fuss here these days....Too much work for me plus cooking and cleaning up after them.... :(
Lovely dishes and tablescape...very pretty!
In answer to your question....
for me it's all of the above...sometimes I just create a tablescape to photograph for fun, sometimes it's for an event I'm hosting, sometimes it's for family, sometimes I "borrow" inspiration from elsewhere! it all works!
I love the touches of soft green. Very pretty!!
What beautiful dishes! Your table looks so lovely!
You have my permission to use Emily's dishes and no, I did not know Lennox make tablecloths. Thanks for sharing~
Happy Tablescape Day !
I loved reading your post and love
your version. It is alot of work
to audtion the settings...I think
of it like when I try on clothes
in the morning..I try one thing,
doesn't look right, then another...
then scrap the idea and start all
over again..leaving a mess behind,
frustrated and happy all at the same time....I have not added any
real food yet, but I am just beginning...my hubby begs for food
and I really should serve a meal..
one day I will. I am learning still
about all the things that are needed and learning also about all
the different brands . I like the fact that reading everyones blogs
is also educational... I do love
your questions and I will have to
remember to check back to see what
others write, as I am curious too !
I can't speak for everyone here and I have only contributed to 2 tablescapes now, but I have been photographing my kitchen table as it has been set for my husband and myself.....not sure how long or where this will go.
I do love your setting.....love your dishes.
I hope your day has been beautiful.
I am a little late in looking at these post. Beautiful dishes and table scapes. Thanks for sharing.
