Dishes are always ready

DSCN0114

As in most years Christmas will not be in our home this year and therefore I don’t have an actual tablescape to share today.  It is our tradition to have Christmas Eve in my mother’s home.  This is a tradition our daughters always remember and my mother even at 84 has requested we keep this tradition as long as she is able to host.  She is still going strong!

Today I will join in with Susan at Between Naps on the Porch to show my dishes I have displayed on my “Butler’s Pantry” counter.  All fall I have shared pictures of my brown transferware  ~~~  well SURPRISE!!  I have it in red too!  This pattern is called Vista by Johnson Brothers.

Surely sometime during the holidays people will be over for cookies or desserts or a casual meal.  I love my dishes too much to tuck them in a cupboard.

The sparkle of the silver pitcher and tray just feel so festive.

Crystal silverware holders have been in my hutch for years.  They are a great tool for keeping things tidy at a serving area.

These dishes were added to my collection this year.  They are also by Johnson Brothers.  I found four dinner plates and four salad plates at TJMaxx.  Wish I could find more but I do love mixing them with my Vista plates.

This little lighted ceramic Christmas tree has been part of our decor for years.  My mother gave it to us and now my girls have all said they would love to have one.  Someone from the Veteran’s Home painted these to sell.  I’m keeping my eye out for more to pick up for my girls.

Oh Thursday ***   the week before Christmas Eve Day.  I’m excited to see what you are sharing on your tables today!  More shopping to do today~~~

Enjoy this day God has given us!

Oh my gosh-
You know how I feel about dishes!
I have Old Britain Castles in red, but I haven't seen Vista before.

They are beautiful!
Have a wonderful week,

Hi Donna...

My friend, I love, love, LOVE red transferware! In fact, my tablescaping post today has some of my pieces in it! I have always admired the Vista pattern. I have a couple of bread & butter plates in that pretty pattern! Ohhh...and I love the pretty red transferware plates with the Christmas tree! Girl, I would have swooped those up in a "New York minute"! Hehe! They'll be so pretty mixed and matched with your Vista pattern! Your buffet looks so beautiful...love the pretty silver pieces!!! I just giggled when I seen your Christmas tree! My mom has one that she made years and years ago. She still brings it out at Christmas too! Sure brought back some sweet memories for me!

Well Darlin'...I sure enjoyed your beautifully decorated buffet and getting to see those gorgeous dishes! I certainly don't blame you for wanting to put them out so you can enjoy them!

Warmest wishes and Christmas blessings to you and your family, sweet friend!!!

I have the Vista dishes also and until recently used them as my everyday dishes. Some of mine are made by Franciscan and some by Masons. Also have the JB Christmas tree plates. Yea, I got them too at TJMaxx a couple years ago. Thanks for sharing your dishes and buffet scape! --Delores

Love the red dishes! Your little ceramic tree reminds me of the ones my step-mother made years ago. My kids still have one. :-)

I like the red dishes, and especially the new ones with the trees in the center. How festive!
I remember my mother made one of those trees with the colored bulbs years ago, and I don't know what happened to it! I have such fond memories of it.

Love the Christmas dishes -- I got them this year too! Now I'll have to be on the look out for some of the salad plates (maybe next year). How wonderful that your mom is still going strong and celebrating Christmas at her house!
