Thanks to Susan, we dish people can get our fill of Tablescapes once again as we begin the countdown for Tablescape Thursday. Join Susan at Between Naps on the Porch each Thursday for this delightful event.
Are there any rules that say we can’t repeat a tablescape we have done? I haven’t heard of any. My blog was brand new about this time last year when I shared this one.
Say hello to the Birthday Girl, my Mother.
I just returned from a trip to my hometown where we once again celebrated this sweet lady and her birthday. It reminded me of this tablescape I did a couple of years ago. The idea occurred to me to have a little brunch in my home and to invite Mom and three of her friends to come.
We ladies enjoy our day trips with food and a little shopping afterwards, right?
Let’s begin by pulling out some dishes that seem fall like. Brown transferware fits the bill, don’t you think? At the time I didn’t have enough brown cups so I introduced my red to intermingle with the brown. No one complained that I heard, anyway!
My centerpiece was simple but elegant with an oversized faux pear placed upon a luncheon plate to match the dishes. I liked the idea of a burlap ribbon to drape down and around the cloche.
The pears went home with the ladies along with a couple recipes I wrote out of entrees served.
The faux pears added color and a feel for the season. This was the first time I had used the deep red tablecloth with these dishes, but it seemed right.
The napkin rings were pieces of grapevine with some faux berries tied around.
Can you see the silver pheasant salt and pepper shakers? I use these a lot this time of year. They are favorites of mine!
Here she is again, pleasing me to stop eating for a picture. She says I take more pictures than anyone she knows.
It was a fun celebration and I do think everyone enjoyed themselves.
Thank you so much for all the nice comments about last week’s tablescape with a Titanic Theme. Within the next couple of days I promise I will post pictures of the costumes and tell you a huge secret from the evening!
Do come again, won’t you??

First of all, I love your header--the whole place is so cozy and inviting. Love the fireplace and the windows too!!
I had to laugh because I may have to do the same as you with the table setting. I purchased some brown transferware type dishes...but I do not have matching cups. (right now I can't justify buying more cups when I have large amounts of blue cups , and pink cups, and regular tea cups, and regular coffee mugs. So I will probably do what you have done. I love the fruit you used--it all looks so invitin with the red tablecloth!!
You have a great table and it doesn't matter how often you repeat it...it's still great and worth repeating a good thing.
Blessings,
d
Very pretty for an autumn table!
Donna, I have missed some of your blog posts. Your blog looks great! That china pattern is the perfect fall look, and that is so neat the way the ribbon goes from the cloche to a plac setting. Very pretty table. laurie
I have a theme of apples/pears in my dining room and I just love these on your table and the brown transferware is lovely.
I love that brown transferware! The nice thing about a blog is that you can post what you want :) The chargers are from Walmart :)
I really like the brown transferware against the cranberry table cloth, very nice combo for fall. Thanks for sharing. Oh, and a very happy birthday to your mom!
I really like this setting as it is elegant and you have used really nice colours. This is my first time at your blog so it is all new to me and I love it.

What a lovely table and how sweet to set it for your mother. The dishes are beautiful, and I love how you've paired it with that reddish colored tablecloth. Very nice!
Love those dishes. That bowl in the photo you show of them is pretty too. The red cups works well w/ the brown transferware.
Such beautiful dishes, and I also love the Pheasant salt and pepper, I should have those...so elegant

Well, I'm glad that you repeat this post, since I'm new to your blog & didn't get to see it the first time around.
I'd give anything in the world to be able to have my Mom come back for life for a luncheon at my house. I'm so glad you did this for your Mom!
Those S&P shakers are TDF...I'd use them all the time, they are so unique.
Beautifully done TT!
