Pleasures of Fall

Susan's hyd and tree 002

Have you ever heard Anyone say they don’t like fall?  Me neither.

Susan's hyd and tree 001

Recently my friend Susan invited me over to pick some of her gorgeous hydrangeas.  Hers must be a different variety than mine.  They are enormous and as you can see ~~ simply loaded with perfect flowers.  She made a pumpkin topiary with real pumpkins this year too…something I say I’m going to do every year and still haven’t.

This is her tree also.  It’s called a Staghorn Sumac.  Have you ever seen any tree more colorful?  Well, maybe, but I think you’ll agree this one spells

It also has little dried pods that are perfect for throwing into a bowl of potpourri.

My daughter Angie and I took our three little boys to a local farm the other day.

Right away it was obvious to me there are other things than pumpkins that catch the eye of boys.

Kitty Cats that will let you hold them.  (My cat Maggie is petrified of my little buddies.)

Max even found a little car with a scarecrow to climb in to.  Didn’t think he was going to fit, but he found a way to crowd in.

“Aahhh, this one is heavy, but I think I can do it.”  Look at the determination on his little dirty face!

I came home with one of these Cinderella pumpkins.  I always see these in Martha’s magazine but had never found one until now.

We had a great day on the Pumpkin farm and plan to go to a much larger one later in the month.

About the only thing I haven’t done this fall is apple picking!

What are you doing to enjoy this fall?

Love your pictures and those sweet looking little ones - they make the pics even that more fun!!

All your fall home decor is just lovely as always - I've got all my goodies packed away and ready for my move in a couple of weeks - I can't wait to get moved - I hate living around all those boxes and cannot wait until next year to decorate for fall!!

Happy Tuesday -

Oh what pictures. Wish I could jump into them. But we have our own Fall here...just not as vibrant as yours yet.

Oh, those boys are the sweetest thing, Donna. Makes me want to try for #3. ;)

The picture with the cat was hilarious...totally reminds me of my girls fighting over my mom's cat, Mr. Darcy.

To celebrate Fall, we are baking pumpkin bread, decorating, and will watch "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" after making pumpkin cookies on Friday. :)

Donna, the boys are so cute. It's hard to believe they are so big! Looks like a very fun time with them at the pumpkin farm.

I loved seeing your pretty fall pictures. I would love to grow a Sumac like your friend has. I'm constantly scouting them in the wild for the pods.

My favorite picture of the day is the one with the cat. That cat must be really good natured. I don't blame your kitty for taking off when your three boys come over!

I can think of one person who doesn't like fall...Mama! She says that it is messy and depressing. I enjoy the change of season!

I love fall too! pumpkins and gorgeous leaves just spell autumn. I like how your friend used hydrangeas at the bottom of her topiary!

Hi! Those pictures of your pumpkin adventure are priceless. I really love the little clenched fist to go with the determination!
That tree at the beginning of your post is so pretty.
I've done some decorations inside, and just threw together a wreath for the door yesterday. Once the glass storm door goes up, I'll put it on the outside door.
