Hello Friends! I’m participating in Rhoda’s Today’s Thrifty Treasures once again. It seems I always have something to share from a thrifting adventure. Even though I didn’t find all these luscious white dishes this past week, all but one were from thrift store finds.
My eye was drawn to these plates because of their shape. I flipped them over and REALLY loved them when I saw they were Johnson Brothers Ironstone dishes for 99 cents! A couple of them do have a chip here and there, but for some reason that doesn’t bother me. I am on the lookout for more, as there were only five plates.
As all of us dish junkies know, white plates are the perfect look for a variety of tablescapes, one being shown here.
On the same day at my local Goodwill, I found these beauties!!!
The bottom tells me they are from the Henry Ford Museum England Collections by Simpsons LTD. Once upon a time ( a few months back) I happened to check for these on eBay and they were going for a pretty penny. If my memory recalls, the coffee pot was over $70! Aren’t their lines simply eloquent? It is so hard to understand how people can just give these pretties away. I have a hard time parting with some things that are much less beautiful than these!
And more white treasures…..
Sorry for the blurry picture, but i wanted to show you how well they work in my glass front cabinet. It was just what I needed to show up against my dark red/brown wood.
White dishes are gorgeous in little vignettes! Just look at that little sugar bowl? Doesn’t it just make you weak in the knees?
Who’s going to tell me the little baby cups are in desperate need of polishing?
Oh wait! We bloggers decided we like tarnished silver, didn’t we?? :)
On the other side of my kitchen I have shown you this black cabinet that sits in the hearth room. It’s a fun place ever changing accessories. Anything white placed in here is always crisp and striking. I have found oodles of little white pitchers.
On top of the cabinet sits a little white lidded bowl…cute as can be for $4.00.
I’m also happy to join Marty at A stroll thru Life and her Table Top Tuesday party.
And Linda at Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays.
Thanks for stopping by 47th Street Today!
Can’t wait to see what you are up to again!
Have a great day!
Donna

Very nice! The plates you found are from one of my mom's favorite sets...in fact, she used them so much that pretty much only the teapot is still in perfect condition! The other pieces you found are quite wonderful too!

Great finding all the white dishes, love the coffee service...it would look great on a black tray!
I love your collection of white dishes. You got some great deals on those. I have not had luck at our GW. I have been finding some pieces at the flea market, but have to pay more for them. I am loving how you have displayed yours.
Love all the white! I especially love the bowl with the lid.

What fantastic bargains you found on those white ironstone plates!! They will go great with your square white plates.
I adore that coffee pot set...oh my gosh, how COULD someone just give that away????? Their loss & your gain! *applause*
I can't wait to see your next tablescape using all your pretty new acquisitions. :-)
all the whilte is really lovely! And you really know how to showcase it. Last week I happened upon a yard sale and although I have all the dishes I need I couldn't help but spend my last $10 on square red plates and bowls. I plan to pull them out this fall :)
Hope you're having a great day!
Denalee

Yours are lovely!!

What fabulous finds. I have some plates like the ones you just found. Love them and the shape is fabulous. I think I have 5 too, that's so funny. Must be why they gave them away. Your coffee pot and cream and sugar are stunning. That is really a super find as well as the tureen. Your cabinets are both displayed so beautifully. I love the vignettes you have created in them. Gorgeous. Thanks so much for joining the party. Hugs, Marty
Wonderful finds! I love all of your beautiful white dishes! I don't have very many white ones...I am kind of a color girl...I think I may need to start collecting more;)!
Enjoy!
Cathy
Love all your white finds. I love white too and pick it up when I can.
What a wondeful ironstone collection you have. Love how you've displayed things on the black bookshelf too!
I love your white collection. Very pretty in your cabinets against the dark wood. Great bargains.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, Donna! I love your JB ironstone finds! I saw the matching sugar at my GW this week...alas nothing else! Happy week!...hugs...Debbie
I love white ironstone. I used to have a complete set which I ruined years ago when I purchased new silverware. The knives were way too sharp and ruined my dishes. I was upset, but oh well. I do have a few coffee pots , but that is about it! Yours are so nice; what a find!
Donna, thanks so much for stopping by and becoming one of my followers. I enjoy your blog too and am a follower now. I think your right we have similar taste. Will be fun to follow eachother. Smiles, Marla
Donna, I could buy all white pieces and be perfectly happy. LOL Your finds are all great- you certainly have quite the collection. Our GW never has the kinds of prices so many of you seem to find. ...or the quality of merchandise! I am jealous! :-) Have a great weekend. ~ Sue
Your collection is so pretty!
The last thing I need is a new collection, but these are really growing on me

My mother gave me the entire Johnson brothers Ironstone set that matches those plates. they are just beautiful, but i have to find one replacement bowl since one of my bowls has a chip on the top edge. Honestly i have no idea what they are worth, but the emotional familial attachment makes them all the more special. :)
