The Rest of the Story

A couple of Mondays back I joined in with Susan at Between Naps on the Porch to show how I am finishing off our lower level family room.  Today I’m participating in Met Monday again to show you more of this level.

Met Monday

There is still much work to be done, but it is definitely coming along downstairs at this stage.

Here a full shot of the window I recently had draperies made for:

For this picture below, I stood in front of the red chairs and faced at a different angle.  It’s hard to photograph this room as it’s very open and goes in different directions.  Beyond the chairs and lamps that you see here is a guest room and my silk floral work room.

Family room and rec side 002

Here I am standing behind the red recliners…  Don’t mind the old pine bench.  I tried to part with it, but couldn’t.  Someone special made that for us back in the 80’s.  Don’t you think a coat of black paint and a pretty seat cushion will help?  It’s nice to have extra seating sometimes too.

Here is a picture of “Hazel” ~~ the picture….

From this angle you can see the opposite end where our rec room is.  I have more plans for this open area.  To the left you can see a portion of our bar which I have shown close ups of before here.

Okay, back to the start.  See this little green chair with a throw over it???  for good reason ;)

I would love to find a houndstooth fabric such as this to have it covered in.  Let me know if you have a fabric source for this!

Thanks so much Susan for allowing us to share our before and after projects.  I just don’t have many before pictures because this was new construction.

I appreciate all of you who have visited today.  It is truly so much fun getting to know so many new bloggers.  Thank you most sincerely for stopping by!

I love the whole room... very comfy. The drapes are great... you should have them made for the patio doors too. Would really tie the two together.

Nice job!

It's lovely, Donna! I think a black bench is the way to go. :) Do you mind sharing with a new sewer how you did the (fabulous!!!!) drapes? Are they just big rectangles sewed on the seams? Did you use those clips to hang them, or did you sew anything special up there? ;)

Well, I think the red leather chairs must go. Yes definitely they must go. Don't worry I will take them for you and give them a good home. No, no I don't mind. I am just thoughtful like that. Yes the leather chairs really must go.
BTW a black bench with a great cushion would look fabulous. Besides you will need something soft to sit on after you have sent me the leather chairs.

Oooooooo I love your Ralph Loren/Chaps look - so rich and elegant ! The curtains are divine and I love all that red ! I would paint that bench today! Black or a red to match your chairs...use fabric like the curtains to make cushions...just my 2 cents , LOL !

It's a GORGEOUS room Donna!

Love the patterned drapes and your red chairs. You have fabulous taste and a great eye for putting things together for a finished and elegant look.~ Wonderful job!

I wish I could sew! I am just so not a crafty person in anyway. I found that little curtain valance at Ross and my poor hubby had to climb up there to hang it. Oh his legs were shaking something terrible that day. Shhh...don't tell him I told you. HEHE!

Have a blessed day my friend.

Hi Donna...

Just me again! hehe! Just had to leave another little note for you after going down through all of your posts that I have missed! My friend, it looks like you've been having a wonderful summer! I loved all of your photos of your little mini vacation with friends and family! Thus the reason for leaving this note...I just adore the photos of you and your daughter Emily! The one of the two of you sitting on the bench in the garden of that beatufiul B&B and the second photo of the two of you standing in front of that charming yellow bicycle!!! My friend, you are such a beautiful woman and your daughter looks just like you!!! Such pretty ladies!!!

Love ya,
Chari
