It's time for ~ ~ Three or More Tuesday
It is fun to look around and see just how many "threes" of something we all have. It's also surprising at the variety of things we come up with, isn't it?
Thanks Tam from Gypsy's Corner for hosting this weekly time to share. I am blessed with many, many things. One of my blessings is my sister in law, Connie. We are the same age and married to brothers. The brothers are nothing alike, but get along great. Connie and I have a lot in common and in other ways we are very different. We have all gotten along fabulously since we first met close to forty years ago! Yikes! Did I really say that??
Connie and I used to "do crafts" together. We made everything starting with some sort of pipe cleaner flowers. I remember wrapping colored pipe cleaners around a medicine bottle and who knows what else we used. Do you believe me when I say they were really cute? Good grief! I haven't thought about those flowers in years. I wish we had a picture of those babies! We've crossed stitch, crocheted, painted wood and fabrics, sewed country creations and on and on and on. This was all done a few weeks during the year as we lived in different towns until the last 15 years.
We also had our children very close together.
Another thing we have both always had in common is decorating. That was a strong bond between us from the beginning.
I remember visiting them when they lived in Kansas. There was a fun little downtown area
we would always look forward to exploring when I came to town. We would leave the
brothers at home with our children, promising them to be home
as soon as we could.
We would keep that promise the best we could, closing down the stores !
I remember finding this three piece "sponged" ceramic cannister set in this little Kansas town,
back in the days of the late 70's ~~ the first time brown was
such a popular color.
Over the years with somewhere around seven or eight moves, I have tried very hard to part with some of my treasures. Gone are the wood ducks and geese and the fabric, dotted cats, pigs and cows, but somehow I could never part with these three brown pieces. I have always loved them. When we moved into our new home, I ran across them wrapped carefully in paper. YES, they would be perfect in my new kitchen. I am so glad I kept them.
Don't you think they look just fine again some thirty years later?

Your pieces are timeless. I have a sister in-law like yours. When we first met everyone thought we were sisters instead of our husbands being brothers. Well, we are kindred spirits for sure. She teaches art to high school students, but I remember doing stitcheries of Holly Hobby for our little girls that were due just six months apart. She lives far away from me now, but we share everything online now. How lucky you are to have Connie and years of precious memories!
That cannister set is even more valuable now cause it's vintage. Love the color and so lucky of you to have a "Connie"!...Christine
I think they look great! They look lovely in your kitchen. You are lucky that you kept them all these years!
those are so pretty! and very "in" right now too! thanks for sharing.
you are also lucky that you have such a great sister in law...I think my one sister in law (I have 2) has the ability to make her head spin ALL THE WAY AROUND!!! ugh..but...I have to be nice...or else! lol
Lovely set! It's great!
How blessed you are to have such a great sister in law. It's fun to remember all the different crafts and fads from the past. Your canister is perfect in your beautiful kitchen!
Hi Donna...Look how good the canisters go with your granite counter tops! Maybe you are a bit psychic & knew you'd have the perfect spot for them again...LOL
Your SIL sounds like a sweetie!
;-) Bo
How fun for you to have a wonderful sister in law. I was always sad that I never had a sister. My sister in law is the sister I never had and we share many interests and fun. Wish she was closer. Your spongeware looks just as pretty in your kitchen today as it probably did when you bought it. A great treasure. Thanks for the peek.

What a fun group of 3! I've never seen this shape in this design.
They look fabulous for being 30. Wish I could say that I will look so fab in 30 years. But somehow, I highly doubt it.
Sure, I"ll send my fairy right over.....I know you have some time restraints!! I wish I was there to be a fairy!!

Oh, and girlie, you have some followers, too, now I see. Bloggers know good taste when they see it! :)

Hey Donna! Yes! They look great! Some things just don't lose their style! The shape especially makes those canisters! Colors may go in and out of style but shapes whether modern contemporary or romantic or arts and crafts are either pretty or not, forever! Does that make since?! Oh well! Have a blessed day! Lauralu :)
love it when we can continue to use our older treasures...:)
I can see why you kept the canisters, they are beautiful! And I love your granite contertop!
I am so with you on parting with all the things we decorated with in the past when moving on to new ideas. I wonder sometimes what I was thinking!! Now I just try to decorate with the things I like and there is no particular style.
I love hearing about your frienship with Connie. Isn't it wonderful to be friends with someone we didn't choose?
