Let's Have a Casual Luncheon After Church

A huge THANK YOU to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for hosting another week of Tablescapes. I may have said this before but Thursday has become one of my favorite days of the week. It is great fun to see what everyone comes up with. If you haven't been playing along or at least peeking at the gorgeous tables, you are missing out! Go take a look....
Now on with my contribution for today:
Quick!
Daughter Number Three suggest we have her boyfriend who recently returned from Iraq over for lunch after church!!
YES! I said while my mind was spinning on what to cook.
It had also been awhile since I had daughter number one, her husband and our little grandsons over for a meal.
Everything was rather face paced because it was already Saturday late afternoon and I had to decide on a menu, run to the grocery store and do a few other things that came up.
~~On the Menu~~
Cream cheese Chickenwith Angel Hair Pasta in the Crockpot
Oriental Salad
Red Lobster Biscuits
Scotcharoo Bars
The table setting was really quick because I did all the meal preparing between 7:00 am and 10:00. I had to allow a little time to get this old lady ready for church, you know!
I pulled my always trusty white dishes out of the cupboard and right away thought of my new napkins I recently purchased from Old Market. Ours is closing it's doors! :( :( We are all so sad to lose them. Of course they are really marking things down now so I have been watching their table linens and such.
These colorful napkins just have so much personality ~~ wouldn't you say? Okay, what placemats do I use? I like the burndt orange ones but I only have four. Wait!
I just picked up two (that was all they had left) of these brown bamboo ones with a fleck of orange! Perfect, I said with not a minute more to think about it! Now we have six. The two older boys like to sit at the bar right next to the table and the baby is in the high chair. We are in business with six somewhat matched placemats.
I wanted more color so I pulled out these red glasses I purchased at a grocery store somewhere in the vicinity of twenty years ago! I like the colors that are coming together. Yes, I can do this fast!
Now I need a centerpiece. I felt the look of the black charger tray was a good feel with these spotted leopard candles. In my eye it worked well with the napkins. My friend just gave me these bronze painted stones for my birthday. Aren't they unique?
It's all coming together just in the nick of time.
"What's missing" I asked myself as I'm about to leave the room to hop in the shower? Ah ha! A nice single red gerbera daisy! Yes, it's faux.....
Sometimes you really don't need to take a lot of time to put together an eye pleasing table. White dishes and LOTS of color are always a great combo. ;)

Looks great, Donna! I love how the pattern in the candle picks up the flower in the napkin. Most important is family coming... don't you think? :)
