No Longer Singing the Blues

Let me just say it right off the bat

I am NOT a blue person.  Not sure why because I was raised with blue.  Everything my mother ever wants in clothes and home décor is blue!  I always asked for everything to be red.

I am NOT a blue person and never have been ~~  Well, until NOW.

Ever since I picked up the blogging fever I have fallen in love with all the blue tablescapes that sprout up all over Blogland.  I now LOVE blue dishes and have been on the lookout for some.

DSCN3384

We who thrift know that sooner or later we will more than likely find some form of what we are searching for.

DSCN3392

The back side picture turned out pretty good.  You can see the pattern is called Yorktown by Salem China Co.

funny thing…  I was raised in Yorktown, Virginia

I’m pretty sure it was the same day I found the dishes I found six blue glasses.

On Monday of this week I found two more that match!

DSCN3383

This is the old wicker vase I pictured this week.  Sorry I didn’t take time to do a proper centerpiece, but love these white flowers along with their deep green leaves.

Real looking?  Wouldn’t you agree?

Is he not the sweetest little thing?

The price you ask??  (well no, your manners are too good) but I just have to tell you!

He was 89 cents!!

I am also loving this grape edged blue dishes.  I found two large bowls and two small bowls.  I really, really love these and will be looking for more.  The back reads

Double Phoenix

This pitcher just had to come home with me.  The bottom says it’s from Bombay Company.  I miss that store.

Well there you have my case of the blues poured out from me to you.

Have any others taken a liking to blue too?  Funny how we change our minds.  Maybe, just maybe I have had a little too much red through all these years.

Join me, won’t you?  I’m linking up with Susan and Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday and Cindy at My Romantic Home.  Also joining Linda at A la Carte.

I’m happy you stopped by.  Please take a moment to say hello!

I'm not a real blue person either, but your tablescape is bluetiful! I love how you mixed all the pieces together for such a great look.

I've been a "blue" person off and on all my life. I never NOT like it but sometimes I need a change. I had my pops of red stage and still have some of those, but I've moved on once again in my color pallete....Purple. I'll blog about it soon! LOVE all your frugal finds....SCORE!

Very Pretty Tablescape! I love blue and white and use it in my own diningroom. I am partial to vintage blue and white transferware. Love IT!

My little sister always had the pink doll, the pink dress...and I always had the blue everything. I've always been a blue girl, and Sweet Mister loves blue, too. That said...I love most colors...our house is a riot of colors...but I inevitably come back to blue. For a blue and white neophyte, you hit the ball out of the park! Dishes and glassware...and for a bargain. Way to go! Thank you for sharing your charming design and for stopping by my post. Cherry Kay

Very pretty table! It's true, we do change our minds about things. Maybe you could mix up some of your red and blue with white, and then you'll have another new thing to love.

It IS interesting how our tastes change when we see others' pretty things. I love your layered plates -- that grape pattern is really unusual, and I hope you find more of it!

I used to have blue dishes, they burned and I didn't replace them. then I got my grandmother's blue dishes and now I've added some more blue.. so it's creeping back in. It's just so fresh and clean and always perfect! Great finds and great table.. thanks for dropping in with your kind comments.

It must be something in the air, because I have also recently begun a fascination with blue (when everything else around me is red). I'm still resisting the urge to join the ranks of dishaholics, though. Let me just say....you're not helping.

Love your FAUX inspired friends lol. sweet. I still like faux too.
Miss Maggie is precious and I think I saw Miss Magnolia, any others for me to meet? I have 2 rescued cats, and 7 dogs. Senior rescues are my weakness.
Well I am a blue girl. My living room walls are blue with pink trim and mint green kitchen, lavender guest bath with mint green. Yes sounds like a candy house, mostly pink and my hubby and boys don't mind. As a matter of fact I just read that pink calms everyone...
Your little bunny on your pretty table? I have one just like it, but it's missing that cap thing.
Love all your dishes, I really do. I colect a little bit of this and a little bit of that.
Thanks for popping by and nice to meet you Donna.

Your table is lovely...and I too "WAS" not a blue lady(WAY BACK WHEN). When I first got married in the early 70s I never bought blue BUT now that I've discovered it's calming wonderful effects I have cupboards of it! I don't like when I'm asked what my favorite color is BECAUSE it depends on what it would be for.
I LOVE your wicker vase, It is FANTASTIC and I think it looks wonderful with the simple white flowers you put in it! Everything is PERFECT!!!
Hugs to you,
Donna

I LOVE all your blue and whites. The great thing...several different patterns mix and match so well. It seems all my blue and whites just seem to go together.
So glad you found all these pretty pieces.

Beautiful dishes and I miss bombay company also. Blue must be going around. The church my sister goes to has their carpet now in blue in the sanctuary, really pretty. I like it. Yorktown is a pretty area, I went a couple times last year to take my grandson.
I love dishes and old glassware.

Donna, I did not start out loving blue either!! I was so not excited when my grandmother gave me 8 place settings of Blue Willow she had sacrificed to buy just one at a time at a local grocery store. Then something happened, and I fell in love with them, and any blue transferware or glasses, etc. You really did find something beautiful!! I have some blue bowls very similar to yours too. So what branch were you all in and where did you serve?? I bet you picked up some lovely things wherever you were stationed too! THanks for stopping by!!!

Donna, I love your blue table. Your statement about your mom's and your color preferences. I have always loved blue so far back I can't remember. The first home economics project in high school was to design our dream bedroom. Mine was blue and yellow.
My daughter decorates her home almost entirely in red and yellow. I see a pattern here.
So glad you are enjoying the blues. I am now enjoying the reds as well.
Love the cobalt glasses and all the blue china is beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Ginger

Your tablescape is lovely! I'm am so with you..... I am not a blue person either. I love a lot of colors. Just NOT blue. It's hard for me to decorate my boys' bedroom. LOL. It about killed me when my daughter asked to get rid of the pink in her room and redo it in blue! She's my only daughter... can I force her to keep pinks and purples??? ha ha

Donna oh it's all soooo pretty! I too love red but this is gorgeous in blue.

You asked me about "Cato Fashions"? It's a chain clothing store. It's very inexpensive and they have cute things. Thanks for the kind words on my clothes. That was a fun post!

Happy *almost* spring!

This is so pretty and classic. I so understand how seeing something that looks beautiful on so many tables can make you "re-think" color. I'm a pink and green lover, but I've "expanded" quite a bit in colors over the past couple of years. LOVE your pretty new blue look -- thanks for your sweet visit.

Beautiful plates!! I've never been a blue and white person either -- but my mother sure was. And now I am finding myself looking for blue and white. AND I am just kicking myself for letting my sister-in-law take her blue and white collection...

I love blue, and your table is very pretty! I miss Bombay too, we had the outlet here near WS and Pottery Barn.

I just had 4 chairs and a sofa reupholstered. I could have bought new, for what it cost me, but this is much better quality furn than what is out there. I was tired of blue and white in my den, so I went to a cranberry toile. Not sure about it yet! :)
