Exercising and Sticking With It

It’s the Birthday that keeps on ticking!  If you’ve followed me lately, you will know I recently had a milestone birthday.  It was one that I dreaded, but I have made peace with it now and it’s probably one of the best I’ve ever had.  It will be remembered forever in my fondest memories.

Two of my close friends helped me celebrate again this week with a quiet little breakfast for three and showered me with more gifts.  As I was sorting through them when I returned home, I noticed a pattern!

PINK!

For the first time I am joining in on the Pink Saturday event.  You may see another pattern ~~ the gifts revolve around working out.  My friend Cindy and I have worked out together for many years. This past fall we convinced Susan to join us.  The three of us complain  smile through a Step Aerobics class three days a week.  Cindy and I participate in a Body Pump class two days a week.

The secret to sticking with an exercise program??  Get a friend to join you!  Not only is it fun to have friends in class, it really makes you stay with it when you have an accountability partner.  If one of us misses, you can bet there will be an email, text or a phone call probably before breakfast wondering where the other was.  When the alarm goes off, you really don’t consider shutting it off and skipping class. It’s easier to get up and go than to have to come up with an excuse for why you didn’t go! :) You’ll have someone to answer to.  Honestly it works!  If you have not had any luck exercising on a regular basis, find someone who has been wanting to get started too and you will have a much better success rate!

It doesn’t hurt to have cute little pink socks with birds on them!

Let me know if you find a friend to work out with.  I hope this helps you to stay with it!

Getting in shape is empowering! Try my method of sticking with it!

Hi Donna, I have only been able to stick to exercise when I was younger. Now, when I REALLY need to it's so hard. It would be great to have someone else to keep pushing me. Good for you on your work outs!

Was that baked french toast??!! ;)

Donna- I believe you are on the right track there. Wish I had a friend to workout with; that always seems to help keep you going. It's been so long since I did any exercise I'd have to find someone as out of shape as I am to start at the same level and that is really difficult. I can see it is paying great dividends for you! Wonderful!

You go girl! I have fallen behind with my exercise routine and I need to get back at it! I came back from my vacation with a nasty virus and I plan on resuming my workout a.s.a.p. By the way, happy belated birthday to you!

Hi Donna,
First I want to send my belated birthday wishes! It sounds like you had a great birthday and spent it with some wonderful friends and family.
I'm very impressed with your exercise regimen...you go girl!!! I really agree that exercising with friends is the way to go. I don't have anyone at the moment to exercise with and it's really easy for me not include exercising in my day.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and your nice comments. As for the header pic....I'm the little one on my mom's lap (with the goofy look on my face). Believe it or not my mom was already pregnant again in that photo. My sister was born in November, 1961 and my youngest brother was born in 1964 (actually celebrating his birthday today).
Have a wonderful Sunday.

First of all.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAY....late or not. And I commend you for sticking to an exercise program. I have done so many things to make life right as far as my health goes but I am bad about exercising. Tennis was my game and I played everyday almost until an injury (totally unrelated to tennis) sidelined me. But I am going to try my best to at least get out on the court and bat the ball around this Spring even if I can't run like I used too. Welcome to Pink Saturday. xo

I am allergic to exercise of all kinds and most types of sports...unless I am sitting watching my son...I tend not to look twice!
I admire anyone who does more than dust the treadmill (like I do) and enjoys or sticks with it even when they don't enjoy.
I go in spurts on the tread mill....mostly I just dust it...I have a way of keeping myself too busy to have "time" lol

I like your new design here! I started seriously working out when I turned 50. My hubby also works out (more seriously than me!), so that keeps me accountable. I stumbled upon a program I can do at home, Walk Away the Pounds with Leslie Sansone. I really enjoy it, and have been pretty consistent. I love your pink things. What a happy birthday you are having!
