To Change or Not to Change ~ that is the question

Would I dare not take Mary Carol's excellent advice?? This book is plum full of great decorating ideas. This woman truly has a gift. She is also the sweetest thing. I have been in her stores two or three times and each time she truly acts like she even remembers me. How could she when zillions of people plow through her shops each and every day. She really is a sweetheart along with being multi talented.
Back to the subject at hand. She shows this beautiful sconce changed out for the holiday. On one side of the page she shows how the sconce looks every day with just a candle. Then she transforms it into a Christmas beauty by adding red apples, pinecones, etc. It looks so festive and gorgeous, doesn't it?
BUT, I recently found these wonderful sconces that I am showing in my entry. They have the fake (no let's use the word faux, girls) FAUX candles that are battery operated. I love these things. Did you know they even sell them with a remote control to turn off and on?? I am so mad I didn't splurge for the extra $$'s to get the remote because it would be so much easier than taking these candles out of the glass to turn on.
Once again, back to the subject ~~ I love candle light at Christmas. Everything just glows and feels so warm on a cold winter's night. Should I take out my faux candles and do as Mary Carol suggests OR should I leave the candles and maybe add a little red ribbon to the base? Such serious decisions.............

What is Mary Carol's last name? My eyes aren't good, and I can't read it on the photo of the book. I'd love to read it. The sconces she did are pretty. I bought some of those candles (w/out remote - haven't seen that yet) to put in a piece of furniture I have that doesn't have a light, and wouldn't you know...I can't find them!

Donna, I would love the red.....would it look silly to put a strand of the battery operated mini lights in there with the red? I think I would go for it for Christmas. Whatever you do, I know it will look fantastic. I wanna come see you and let's go see Mary Carol!!! ;)

Hi, just found you and you will be in my favorites. I do like the look with the apples for the Christmas season. Can also see the look for the fall with small pumpkins and pretty fall leaves. You can use the candles the rest of the year. I also have the candles and did not know that they had a remote.

Ohhh! Love those candles! What a neat idea! I just returned from a tour of old homes and almost every house had fruit, especially apples, in their Christmas decorations. Hmmm...I'm looking at my apples now and trying to figure out where I can put them! ..Debbie

I think leave the candles. I love candles at Christmas, too. Maybe add a touch of greens tucked here and there.

I would do what she suggests...it looks so festive and will add a splash of color to the walls...then just move the candles elsewhere with some pretty pine sprigs and you can have the candle light too!

Oh you lucky lady to have been to MCG store! I have all of her books and met her at a design seminar earlier this year and she was indeed so lovely.

Hi Donna! I love the candles! And would leave them there and just tie a festive ribbon around them as Laurie suggested. Such a warm and romantic look! But girlfriend have I been on Mars? I have never seen these candles operated by battery! Do they come in different sizes? I think that's just the COOLEST thing!! And a remote control too? I NEED THIS!! Haha! I have a few chandys that I put up just cause they're pretty....no electricity....This could be the answer to my prayers!! Ahhhh the blog world sure is filled with tons of wonderful information! Thanks so much Donna for the warm welcome on my first blog post. I haven't got a clue what I'm doing but I'm thrilled to be here! *winks* Vanna

I would leave the candles too. I have several battery operated candles and love them. The ones on my mantle are battery. QVC sells some that have timers. Everyone is always shocked when I tell them that the candles are faux.

I'm sure whatever you do will turn out beautiful, you have great taste!

PS: Thanks for the tag, I will reply tomorrow.

OMG...I didn't know they had remote control candle....WOW! I'm going to keep an eye out for them.

I think you should keep the candles and add some ribbon/greenry/or berries. The candle glow is nice.
